Our primary goals are to provide outdoor experiences for young girls to experience nature with a trusted Leader, to learn how nature can be a source of peace, and to learn how STEM is part of their everyday interactions.

Prerequisites:

  • Your youth is between the ages of 8-17 (for ages outside this range, please email us)
  • Your youth's sex is female

Requirements:

  • Fill out Participation Application Form located on Our Program page
  • Be willing to participate and learn at the monthly events, engage with peers and respect peers
  • Your youth is ready to have fun!!

Currently, TKG is designed for ages 8-17. If your kid falls outside of this age range and they would like to be a part of TKG, please email us so that we can get more understanding.

TKG's events are held indoors and outdoors depending upon the agenda. We will be mindful of the weather, but "Rain or Shine" the event will go on unless otherwise communicated.

  • 1-2 times a month on Saturdays, TKG will have an adventure.
  • There are some months that TKG will have overnight stays.
  • A schedule of events will be provided to the participant/family to keep them informed of upcoming adventures.
  • In all, TKG is a monthly program that will last until the Earth is no longer spinning on its axis and funding has stopped.

  • For each adventure, Leaders/Volunteers will be made aware of local emergency services that can be resourced in a time of need (i.e. medical, police, fire, etc.).
  • Each Leader will have an active CPR Certification.
  • Our Director (Malia) holds an active WFA/WFR Certificate (Wilderness First Aid and Wilderness First Responder).
  • For safety reasons, the precise location of our adventure will only be communicated to the participant/family prior to the event.
  • Only after an event has passed will proximate location and posts be shared on social media.
  • For any water related activity, the appropriate safety gear will be provided.
  • First Aid Kits will be readily available.

  • For every 5 girls, there is 1 leader or volunteer (5:1)
  • Note, this ratio may be adjusted depending upon the scheduled adventure.

Our girls will learn a variety of lessons not limited to the following:

  • How to make a delicious Smore
  • How to camp/hike safely
  • Sustainable Gardening
  • Project Management
  • Nature Photography
  • Life Skills
  • Environmental Engineer
  • Water Resources and Conservation
  • Scientific Method
  • Women in STEM
  • Geology Intro
  • So much more...

  • Currently, TKG will host adventures for a range of 10-12 girls per event.
  • At this moment, TKG is based upon a first come first serve basis. Therefore, if your youth wants to join in each monthly event, they must indicate the choice on the Participant Application Form. If your youth only wants to participate ad-hoc, please select that option on the Participant Application Form.
  • Once an adventure for an event has reached its capacity, the event will become capped and additional youth will not be able to participate (depends on the circumstance as there's always room for flexibility).

  • At minimum, Yes- parents/guardians/volunteers need to provide their own transportation for their youth to the designated "Meeting Place" (which will be communicated prior to the event). The meeting place is not the same location of the actual adventure. It is the place TKG will meet up to travel to our adventure.
  • TKG can provide carpool transportation to the scheduled adventures (not the same as the meeting place.)  Parents/Guardians can also provide transportation if they wish (but not required).
  • TKG encourages car pooling. We would be happy to carpool any youth that needs a ride to the "Meeting Place".

  • There is no cost to our youth for any adventure.
  • There is no cost of the food that will be provided to our youth for any adventure.
  • If parents/guardians/volunteers want to attend the adventures, they must pay for the event on their own terms.
